Cloudchipr is excited to launch Commitments, tool designed to enhance how you manage your AWS reservations. With Commitments, you can track your current reservations and analyze reservation coverage. This feature answers a crucial question: What percentage of your instances benefit from reservation discounts? For instance, if you're running 100 active instances and have reservations for only 80, Commitments will reveal that 20% of your capacity is not covered by reservations, thus subject to on-demand pricing. Ensure you're maximizing your savings with Cloudchipr's new Commitments feature.

Explore the Commitments Feature Through Two Key Subpages:

  • Utilization & Coverage: Track your current reservations and view detailed insights on what percentage of your instances benefit from reservation discounts. This helps you identify how much of your capacity is covered by reservations and how much is subject to on-demand pricing.
  • Recommendations (Coming Soon): Prepare for future enhancements with recommendations tailored to optimize your reservations and increase your savings.

Utilization & Coverage Dashboard:

Visual Metrics: View Utilization and Coverage with dynamic charts, available in area, column, and gauge types.

Detailed Metrics: At the top of the page, view key figures such as Total Cost, Total Net Savings, and average Coverage. Customize the data displayed by selecting specific date ranges with the interactive date picker, allowing for tailored analysis of your metrics over time.

Commitments and Coverage Tables:

Commitments Table: This table displays detailed information about each of your commitments. It lists the Savings Plan ID, type, linked account, region, payment option, utilization compared to the commitment, tags, net savings, and the start and end dates.

Coverage Table: The Coverage table features a "Group by" filter that enhances your ability to analyze AWS spending efficiently by organizing data by Resource Type or Accounts.

  • Resource Type: Displays savings plan type, for instance, family, region, spending covered by commitments, on-demand spending, and the percentage of spend covered by savings plans. This view offers a detailed and customizable perspective on how savings plans impact your overall spending
  • Accounts: Shows accounts that utilize savings plans. It details Spend Covered by Commitments and On-Demand Spend, along with a color-coded Coverage Bar for each account. This bar visually represents the percentage of spend covered by commitments.

Detailed Views

Clicking on a Savings Plan from the "Commitments table" or an Account/Resource Type from the "Coverage table" shows the specific savings plan, account, or resource coverage details.

Savings Plans: See all the details per savings plan.

Resource Type/Accounts: This shows detailed coverage data for the selected account or resource type:

  • View Toggling: Users can toggle between views of covered resource types and commitments to understand their data scope better.
  • Data Export: Export capabilities enable users to download data to CSV for offline analysis or reporting needs.

Overall, you want to be 100% covered by saving plans, and this is where Cloudchipr helps you achieve it.
