About Bardeen

Bardeen is an automation and workflow platform that helps GTM teams eliminate manual tasks and streamline processes. It integrates with popular tools so users can automate repetitive workflows, manage data across systems, and collaborate more effectively.

Challenge

Bardeen’s focus on growth led to rapid increase in AWS spend. The team lacked unified cost visibility, anomaly detection and automations for routine FinOps workflows.

Why Bardeen chose Cloudchipr

Bardeen selected Cloudchipr to keep cloud costs low and predictable with AI‑driven automations. Automated cost reports keep executives, finance, and engineering teams informed, while workflows take over routine tasks engineers used to do manually. Cloudchipr’s DevOps and FinOps engineers partnered with Bardeen to set up the platform and share best practices - so the team could stay focused on building and growth.

Solution: Cloudchipr Implementation

Bardeen adopted Cloudchipr’s FinOps automation platform to get granular cost visibility, anomaly detection, and automate the cleanup of idle/underutilized resources.

What Cloudchipr implemented in AWS

Scope & Onboarding. Connected AWS accounts via AWS IAM cross‑account roles; defined idle thresholds, grace periods, working‑hour windows, and exception lists. Cloudchipr workflows continuously monitor resources, compare against policies, and notify owners or stop resources when idle.

Primary AWS services used and how they are used.

  • Amazon EC2 & Auto Scaling - Cloudchipr automated workflows periodically scanned and deactivated underutilized instances. Also off-hours jobs were turning Off and On testing resources during night times and weekends.
  • Amazon EKS (post‑migration from ECS) - Right‑sizing via Kubernetes and auto‑scaling with Karpenter to reduce over‑provisioned compute.
  • Amazon EBS, ELB, EIP, VPC NGW - Cloudchipr automated workflows periodically scanned and identified unattached volumes, load balancers, ip addresses and nat gateways; notified owners; snapshotted and deleted after approval.

Operating Model & Guardrails. Automations run on a schedule with notification/approval flows, change windows, and exception handling.

Timeline & Status. Deployment: Oct-Dec 2024. Production: Dec 2024-Present.

Results & Benefits

  • 30% AWS cloud savings in 2024.
  • AWS cost visibility & analytics for executives, finance, and engineering via shared dashboards and scheduled reports.
  • Cost awareness & accountability improved across teams through tag‑aware ownership, alerts, and approval workflows.
  • Automated reporting & real‑time anomaly detection with AI prevents end‑of‑month surprises.
  • Compute efficiency gains following ECS → EKS migration (better bin‑packing and auto‑scaling reduced idle compute and over‑provisioning).

Customer Quote

“We had been focused on building and shipping new features, but at some point, we realized our AWS costs had surged, and we lacked the time and bandwidth to properly implement FinOps practices. What we needed was an AI-driven automation platform - one that could not only track and analyze costs, but also take over routine engineering tasks so our team could stay focused on building. Cloudchipr has given us the tools and support we need to focus on building and growing. Their DevOps and FinOps engineers have been incredible partners, helping us set up the platform and sharing best practices along the way.”. Artem, Bardeen
